SATICOY, Ventura County — October 28, 2026. A long-planned teen center and major park upgrades remain a priority for unincorporated Saticoy. Ventura County’s 2026–27 Capital Improvement Program describes a project at Saticoy Park, 11321 Violeta Street, to build a 2,500-square-foot teen center and replace aging park amenities. The county’s capital-project estimate is approximately $4.98 million.
What is included in the plan?
The county says the existing park’s basketball court, swings, barbecue facilities and softball field have been in service for decades and need repair or replacement. The proposal combines upgraded recreation space with a dedicated indoor gathering place for teenagers. Ventura County Parks would maintain the public park, while a partnership model is contemplated for operation of the new youth space.
How far along was the project in 2026?
A January 2026 Ventura County General Services Agency newsletter reported that the project had reached 50% design development. It described meetings with the Boys & Girls Club, discussions about the City of Ventura waterline crossing the site, and changes needed to stormwater-management plans after testing showed an originally contemplated detention basin would not be feasible.
These updates demonstrate planning activity. They do not mean the teen center was finished, opened, or transferred to an operator in January or October 2026.
Where does the funding stand?
The 2026–27 county capital plan lists a $4,978,600 estimated total: $82,125 in preliminary costs, $417,925 in design, approximately $4,015,000 in construction and $463,550 in other project costs. It schedules most spending for the following fiscal period. The document labels the project as ongoing with no additional funding requested, but a budget plan is not the same as a contractor’s final invoiced cost.
A separate $1 million state allocation was announced in 2023 by Sen. Monique Limón for the teen-center effort. That earlier allocation should not be counted a second time as a newly awarded 2026 grant.
What should neighbors watch?
Construction scheduling, parking arrangements, stormwater design, temporary closures and the operating partnership for the teen center all affect how families will use the park. Residents should consult new Board of Supervisors actions and public project updates rather than infer a grand-opening date.
